Ready.....Set......Go......

On the eve of our trip packing is complete.  We think we have hit the balance between not enough and too much.....     It's tricky trying to work out all the stuff you are going to need...and all the stuff you THINK you are going to need.

We have found homes for all the bits and pieces, we've taken care to pack things away to reduce the risk of damage - considering some of the roads we will be on.    Things like soft drink cans, (yes - OK....and beer cans) are stacked into sealed containers, bottles and jars carefully place, this should minimise damage should a can spring a leak or a jar break.   Shelves are lined with anti-slip matting, to prevent everything sliding around.

The pantry and fridge are well stocked, the car fridge will serve as an additional freezer.   Bev has been busy over the past couple of weeks buying up on meat and groceries when they were on special.   We will stock up as and when needed, but we have enough to start with.

I've tried to make things easier for myself and installed a slide out, for the tunnel boot, it holds 2 tubs with all the hoses, leads, and all the gear needed to set up camp.  I am pleased with the way it works, it saves a lot of time fishing about for bits and pieces.

I took the car and van to the tip.........it is an ideal spot..............to check the weight of the car and van.   Both came in under legal weight,  just one of those peace-of-mind things.  I'd hate to have a mishap and then find out I'm not covered by insurance, or have one of NSW's finest point me into a weigh station.....

To protect the front of the van and to help reduce dust I have fitted a Stone Stomper to the outfit.  the stone stomper prevents stone flicking up onto the front of the van and bouncing into the back of the car.  Everything I've read about them says that they do the job?   I guess we will see for ourselves......

So with all the prep done, we can have a bit of a relax before we head off.  A catch-up with family and friends before we go....  Monday morning will be hook-up wave goodbye to the homestead and head North.
